HMS Eastbourne F73 Whitby Class Frigate 1971 Starboard View Photo Print
HMS Eastbourne (F73), a Royal Navy Whitby Class frigate, runs at speed with her starboard side to the camera and her bow to the right in 1971, a crest of white water curling back from the stem along the waterline. Her pennant F73 is painted amidships, a diamond-shaped emblem shows on the bow, liferaft canisters are lined up on the forecastle, and signal flags fly from her mast under a broad, cloudy sky.
Soon after this photograph, in 1972, Eastbourne took over from HMS Rapid as the seagoing training ship for artificer apprentices of HMS Caledonia at Rosyth. She was sent to the Cod War off Iceland in 1976, where on 22 May she was damaged in a collision with the Icelandic gunboat Baldur. Found unfit for sea in 1977, she had her propellers replaced with brake wheels so her engines could still be run for training alongside, and she was sold for scrap in 1985.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
