HMS Enchantress L56 U56 Bittern Class Sloop 1941 Photo Print
HMS Enchantress (U56), a Royal Navy Bittern Class sloop, lies on still, sheltered water in 1941, her port side towards the camera and U56 painted large near her bow. Her hull and upperworks carry a broken wartime camouflage scheme, and a line of low, rounded hills fills the background behind her.
She was laid down by John Brown at Clydebank on 9 March 1934 as Bittern, the first of a new series of sloops that could serve as escorts in time of war. Before her launch on 21 October 1934 she was renamed Enchantress so that she could serve as the Admiralty yacht, taking the name of the previous yacht, and the name Bittern passed to a later sister. In the Second World War she worked chiefly as a convoy escort, her pennant changing from L56 to U56 in 1940 along with the other sloops.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
