HMS Fleetwood U47 Grimsby Class Sloop 1944 Photo Print
HMS Fleetwood (U47), a Royal Navy Grimsby Class sloop, lies on grey, lightly rippled water in 1944 with her bow to the right, so her starboard side faces the camera. A bold dazzle pattern of dark and light panels runs along her hull, and her guns fore and aft, bridge, funnel and pole masts stand out against an overcast sky, with a low headland on the right.
Fleetwood was built at Devonport Dockyard, launched on 24 March 1936 and completed that November. During the war she escorted Atlantic convoys, and on 11 May 1943, after an RAF Halifax had attacked the U-boat U-528, Fleetwood's depth charges forced her to the surface. Under fire from Fleetwood and the corvette Mignonette, the U-boat was scuttled by her crew, and Fleetwood picked up 39 survivors.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
