HMS Gipsy H63 G Class Destroyer June 1936 Photo Print
HMS Gipsy (H63), a Royal Navy G Class destroyer, is under way on 23rd June 1936, four months after her completion, seen from off her starboard bow with her pennant number painted large on a pale grey hull. Her bridge, forward guns and banded after funnel are crisp against a hazy sky, with flags at her foremast and an ensign at her stern.
Built by Fairfield at Govan, launched in November 1935 and completed in February 1936, she served briefly with the Home Fleet before joining the 1st Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean. During the Spanish Civil War she helped evacuate refugees from around Barcelona, and in February 1937 she and HMS Havock were bombed, without damage, by an aircraft in Nationalist markings between Gibraltar and Malta. Brought home soon after the outbreak of war, she struck a magnetic mine laid by German seaplanes just outside the Harwich boom on 21st November 1939, and about 30 of her crew, including her captain, Lieutenant Commander Crossley, were lost; her wreck was raised in two halves and scrapped during the war.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
