HMS Glamorgan D19 County Class Destroyer Amsterdam 1967 Photo Print
HMS Glamorgan (D19), a Royal Navy County Class destroyer, lies alongside in Amsterdam on 18 May 1967 during a British fleet visit, seen low from the quay off her port bow with a Union Flag flying at the jackstaff and her ship’s badge mounted high on the bow. Her twin gun turrets sit forward of the bridge, steam drifts past the big radar aerial on her mainmast, and on the cobbled quay a man cycles past the bollards while parked cars and a Land Rover wait near the gangway, which carries a KLM sign.
Built by Vickers-Armstrongs on the Tyne and launched in July 1964, Glamorgan had commissioned only seven months before this visit, in October 1966. In the 1970s her B turret was replaced by Exocet launchers, and in the Falklands War she bombarded Argentine positions ashore until, on 12 June 1982, she was struck by an Exocet fired from a shore launcher, killing 14 of her company. Repaired, she served off Lebanon in 1984 before being sold to Chile in 1986 as Almirante Latorre, and she sank under tow on her way to the breakers in April 2005.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
