HMS Goliath 1898 Canopus Class Battleship May 1915 Photo Print
HMS Goliath (1898), a Royal Navy Canopus Class battleship, at anchor in calm water, seen off her starboard bow with her cable running down from the hawse and smoke drifting from a funnel. Torpedo net booms are stowed along her side, flags fly from her mainmast and jackstaff, and a few men stand on her upper deck. The photograph is catalogued as May 1915.
Goliath was built at Chatham Dockyard and launched on 23 March 1898, one of the Canopus Class battleships designed for the China Station. They carried four 12 inch guns but lighter armour than earlier battleships, which saved weight so that they could pass through the Suez Canal. In 1915 she supported the Gallipoli landings, and early on 13 May 1915 she was torpedoed in Morto Bay by the Ottoman destroyer Muavenet-i Milliye. She sank quickly with the loss of about 570 of her crew.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
