HMS Hornet 1893 Havock Class Torpedo Boat 1893 Photo Print
HMS Hornet (1893), a Royal Navy Havock Class torpedo boat, runs at speed through a choppy sea, her starboard side to the camera and a heavy bow wave curling back along her low, narrow hull. Smoke drifts from her four funnels, a gun sits on the raised platform forward, and several of her crew stand on the open deck, with a flat, low shoreline just visible on the horizon.
Hornet was built by Yarrow and Company at Poplar on the Thames and launched on 23 December 1893. Unlike her sister Havock, which used locomotive boilers, she was given eight water-tube boilers, which is why she carries four funnels. Although the Daring Class boats were ordered first, Havock and Hornet were finished sooner and so count as the first torpedo boat destroyers ever built; Hornet was sold for scrap on 12 October 1909.

This print is ideal for anyone interested in the origins of the destroyer and those with a family connection to the Victorian Royal Navy or the Yarrow yard at Poplar.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
