HMS Iron Duke F234 Type 23 Frigate June 2009 Photo Print
HMS Iron Duke (F234), a Type 23 frigate, alongside in Portsmouth Naval Base on 17 June 2009, the day she sailed for the Caribbean. This is a close study of her bow and forward superstructure from the port side, almost in silhouette against a pale sky, with low golden sunlight catching the edges of the hull, the bridge front and the canisters of her life rafts. The Union Flag flies from the jackstaff at her bow, as it does while a warship is moored.
That June departure began a five-month deployment to the Caribbean for hurricane relief duties and counter-drug patrols with the United States Coast Guard. In July 2009 her boarding team stopped a smuggling speedboat and seized about three quarters of a tonne of cocaine. Later in the deployment, working with RFA Fort George, she seized more than five and a half tonnes, the largest cocaine haul the Royal Navy had ever recorded.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
