HMS Lagos D44 Battle Class Destroyer 1959 Photo Print
HMS Lagos (D44), a Royal Navy Battle Class destroyer, steams past a thickly wooded shoreline at Plymouth in 1959, showing her full port side. Funnel smoke drifts back across the trees, a party of sailors stands in ranks on the quarterdeck beneath the White Ensign, and her pennant number is painted both amidships and at the stern.
Lagos was built by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead, laid down in April 1943 and launched on 4 August 1944, but she was not commissioned until 2 November 1945, too late for the war. She took her name from Admiral Boscawen's victory over a French squadron off Lagos, Portugal, in 1759. Her first commission took her east with the 19th Destroyer Flotilla in 1946, calling at Port Said, Colombo, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai before reaching Japan, and after returning home early in 1947 she spent ten years in reserve.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
