HMS Liverpool D92 Type 42 Destroyer 1986 Off Cape Wrath Photo Print
HMS Liverpool (D92), a Royal Navy Type 42 destroyer, closes the US battleship USS Iowa (BB-61) off Cape Wrath during NATO Exercise Northern Wedding in 1986, seen close up on her port bow from the battleship’s deck as a long bow wave runs down her side. Her ship’s company lines the bridge roof and upper decks behind the 4.5 inch gun, a yellow flag flies from her foremast, and dark, heavy cloud hangs over the sea and the headlands of the Scottish coast behind her.
Launched at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead in September 1980, Liverpool entered service in the summer of 1982, just too late for the Falklands War. Almost thirty years later, off Libya in 2011, she became the first Royal Navy ship to come under fire since that conflict, and she fired more than 200 rounds from her main gun in seven months on station. She made a farewell visit to her namesake city in February 2012, was decommissioned at Portsmouth on 30 March that year, and her 4.5 inch gun is now displayed at the Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower in Gosport.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
