HMS Magpie H130 Coastal Survey Vessel March 2019 Starboard View Photo Print
HMS Magpie (H130), a Royal Navy coastal survey vessel, is running hard across open water in this low starboard view, shot from just above the surface with spray thrown up in the foreground. A White Ensign flies aft, an orange lifebuoy is secured to the guardrail and a small crane sits on her after deck, while the bow of her port hull shows beyond the near one. The picture comes from the same March 2019 photography in the waters off Portsmouth, with the coast a faint line far away on the left.
The name came to her from a wartime sloop that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, took over as commanding officer in 1950. When the Duke was buried at Windsor Castle on 17 April 2021, sailors from this Magpie were among the Royal Navy parties lining the route of the procession, alongside detachments from HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Nelson and HMS Sultan.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
