HMS Middleton M34 Hunt Class Mine Warfare Vessel November 2015 Photo Print
HMS Middleton (M34), a Hunt Class mine countermeasures vessel, leaves Portsmouth on 9 November 2015 at the start of a three year posting to the Gulf, the camera low off her port bow as she butts into choppy grey water. Small groups of her ship's company are out on the upper deck, most of them aft at the guardrails, with the White Ensign flying above them under a flat overcast sky. A black harbour launch crosses the foreground ahead of her and a large white ferry lies away in the distance beyond her stern.
She sailed that day in company with her sister ship HMS Chiddingfold, beginning a stint in Bahrain that ran until 2018. The Royal Navy keeps minehunters forward based in the Gulf to protect the sea lanes there, rotating crews out from the UK while the hulls stay in theatre. It was her second long spell in the region, the first having ended when she came home to Portsmouth on 31 August 2012 after three years away. A Royal Navy photographer covered the farewells on the jetty before she slipped, and one frame of a sailor saying goodbye went on to win an award in the 2016 Peregrine Trophy, the Navy's own photographic competition.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
