HMS Montrose F236 Type 23 Frigate October 2018 Photo Print
HMS Montrose (F236) lies at anchor in Plymouth Sound on 8 October 2018, turned so that her starboard side faces the camera under a flat grey autumn sky, with the White Ensign hanging at the staff aft. Her anchor cable leads down from the hawse into water that is only lightly ruffled, and the long low Plymouth breakwater runs across the Sound behind her. She was host ship that day to the Defence Secretary, who used the visit to announce that all eight of the Royal Navy's new Type 26 frigates would be based at Devonport.
Montrose was a Devonport ship for most of her career, working alongside the rest of the West Country frigate force. The Type 23 was drawn up for towed array work against submarines in the North Atlantic, with combined diesel electric and gas turbine machinery so that she could run quietly while she listened. Royal Marines from 42 Commando put on a boarding demonstration on board during the same visit, watched from an offshore raiding craft.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
