HMS Montrose F236 Type 23 Frigate April 2013 Fires Harpoon Photo Print
HMS Montrose (F236), a Royal Navy Type 23 frigate, fires a Harpoon anti-ship missile on 30 April 2013, broadside to the camera with her starboard side towards the lens and her bow to the right. Thick pale yellow smoke rolls out over her forward deck and down to the water while the missile climbs away on a long exhaust trail. Beyond her the sea is grey and the horizon is lost in haze.
The missile was launched at more than 800 miles per hour against a purpose built target barge in the Scottish exercise areas and destroyed it within minutes, at a reach Harpoon could stretch to around 80 miles. Less than a year later she was in the eastern Mediterranean on Operation Recsyr, escorting the ships carrying chemical weapons materials out of Syria, before handing that duty to HMS Diamond in February 2014. She was forward deployed to Bahrain from 2019 until 2022, with crews rotating out to keep her on station in the Gulf, and she was decommissioned in April 2023.

This print is ideal for those who served in HMS Montrose in her later years and anyone with a connection to the Syria chemical weapons mission or her time based in Bahrain.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
