HMS Newcastle D87 Type 42 Destroyer 1999 Underway Photo Print
HMS Newcastle (D87), a Royal Navy Type 42 destroyer, at speed in 1999, off her starboard bow and close enough to read the badge on her bow and the number D87 abaft it. A long sheet of foam runs back from her stem along the grey hull, and the swell about her is breaking white. The sky is flat and pale, and the camera sits a little above her fo'c'sle, so the deck layout forward and the two white radar domes are open to view.
In 1999 Newcastle worked in the Adriatic in company with the aircraft carrier Invincible, whose aircraft were flying against Serbian targets during the Kosovo campaign. Guarding a carrier against air attack was the task the Type 42s had been designed for, twenty years after the first of them joined the fleet. Earlier in the decade she had gone south as Falkland Islands guardship, from September 1993 to April 1994.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
