HMS Northumberland F238 Type 23 Frigate September 2019 Port Beam View Photo Print
HMS Northumberland (F238), a Type 23 frigate, broadside on from her port side, at sea in the Atlantic on 23 September 2019 during a photographic exercise with the carrier group. She is a fair way off, the whole ship in frame from stem to stern under a blue sky broken by bands of fair weather cloud, with a thin haze of exhaust drifting aft above the funnel. The water is deep blue and only lightly ruffled, and she is making just enough way to leave a modest wake.
Devonport was her home port and she served in the Devonport Flotilla as one of the Royal Navy's dedicated submarine hunters. That meant streaming a towed sonar array well astern and working anti submarine helicopters from the flight deck, alongside the ordinary frigate business of escort duties, boarding operations and maritime security patrols. Almost none of it shows at this distance, because the quiet propulsion and the sonar gear that make a Duke class frigate what she is all sit out of sight.

This print is ideal for anyone who served in the Devonport Flotilla and for families with a connection to her 2019 Atlantic deployment.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
