HMS Ocean L12 Landing Platform Helicopter September 2017 Port Quarter View Photo Print
HMS Ocean (L12), a Royal Navy landing platform helicopter, seen from off her port quarter on 17 September 2017, during the same westward passage for Operation Ruman. Cumulus stands in a bright sky over a slight sea, her landing craft sit high in their davits at her port side, and a Chinook is parked on the flight deck abreast the island with Commando Merlins beside it. A Merlin in grey hovers over the after end of the deck with a member of the flight deck party standing clear below.
Her tailored air group for the operation mixed Royal Navy and Joint Helicopter Command aircraft: Merlin Mk3s of 845 Naval Air Squadron and Wildcats of 847, both Commando Helicopter Force squadrons from Yeovilton, together with a Merlin Mk2 and two Chinooks. Ocean was designed around that kind of mixed force and around her boats, carrying four LCVP Mk5 in davits at her sides, manned by 9 Assault Squadron Royal Marines. Deck landing and winching practice was worked up on the way west so that the crews were ready before the relief flying began.

This print is ideal for Commando Helicopter Force aircrew and maintainers and anyone with a connection to 845 or 847 Naval Air Squadron.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
