HMS Pandora N42 Parthian Class Submarine 1930 Photo Print
HMS Pandora (N42), a Royal Navy Parthian Class submarine, lies on the surface in harbour water, her port side towards the camera, with guardrails rigged along the casing and a staff stepped at her bow. Her gun sits on its platform forward of the conning tower, a tall wireless mast standing above it, and her crew can be made out on the bridge. A dockyard shoreline of cranes, sheds and chimneys fades into the haze behind her with a large warship at a berth beyond, and the photograph carries the date 1930, the year she commissioned.
She was ordered as Python and renamed Pandora before she was launched, laid down at Vickers Armstrongs in Barrow in July 1928 and commissioned on 30 June 1930. In the Mediterranean she torpedoed the French aviso Rigault de Genouilly off Algiers on 4 July 1940, her commanding officer having taken the small ship for a cruiser, an action still argued over. She later ran stores and fuel into Malta when surface ships could not get through, and on 1 April 1942, while unloading there, she took two direct bomb hits in an air raid and sank at her berth.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
