HMS Parthian N75 Parthian Class Submarine 1929 to 1943 Photo Print
HMS Parthian (N75), a Royal Navy Parthian Class submarine, lies stopped and quiet on water so still that her whole length is mirrored beneath her, her starboard side to the camera. A tall wireless mast rises above the conning tower with aerials rigged out fore and aft, and her casing runs low and almost level with the surface. No land shows through the pale background, and no closer date survives than her years of service, 1929 to 1943.
Parthian was the name boat of her class, laid down at Chatham Dockyard on 30 June 1928, launched on 22 June 1929 and commissioned in January 1931. She was on the China Station when war came and moved to Alexandria in May 1940, sank the Italian submarine Diamante off Tobruk on 20 June that year, and sank the Vichy French submarine Souffleur off Beirut on 25 June 1941 during the campaign in Syria and Lebanon. She sailed from Malta on 22 July 1943 for a patrol in the southern Adriatic and was never heard from again, most probably mined near Brindisi, and her fifty nine officers and ratings are still on patrol.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
