HMS Penelope F127 Leander Class Frigate Bow View Photo Print
HMS Penelope (F127), a Royal Navy Leander Class frigate, runs almost straight at the camera, a little off her starboard bow, with a low line of hills along the horizon behind her. Spray breaks away on either side of her stem and her ensign stands out stiffly from the yardarm. A single 40mm Bofors gun sits on each bridge wing, fitted in the first Leanders as a stand in until the Sea Cat missile system became available.
The photograph is undated, but the broad lattice aerial of her Type 965 radar, carried high on her foremast here, came off in 1966 when she was converted for trials work, so this is from her first years in service. Penelope paid off in 1991 and was sold to Ecuador, where she was commissioned as Presidente Eloy Alfaro, named after the reforming Ecuadorean president of the early twentieth century. She served another seventeen years under that flag and was decommissioned on 19 March 2008.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
