HMS Portland F79 Type 23 Frigate January 2014 Photo Print
HMS Portland (F79), a Type 23 frigate, steams towards the camera on 20 January 2014, photographed from the air fine on her bow, with a faint line of land on the horizon away to the left. Her 4.5 inch gun sits in its angular shield below the bridge windows, the Harpoon launchers are angled outboard on either side of it, and her stem pushes up a low curl of white water. The sky is blue with small cloud and high streaks, and the sea is running in a short swell.
Commander Sarah West had taken command of Portland on 21 May 2012, the first woman in the history of the Royal Navy to command a major warship, and she was still the commanding officer through 2014. The ship sailed from Devonport on 13 January 2014 and spent three months on maritime security work off West Africa. She then went on south to Cape Town, exercising with the South African Navy submarine SAS Charlotte Maxeke on the way.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
