HMS Portland F79 Type 23 Frigate March 2017 Plymouth Photo Print
HMS Portland (F79), a Type 23 frigate, comes in past Plymouth Hoe on 10 March 2017 at the end of a nine month deployment, her ship's company fallen in along the upper deck. The camera is fine on her starboard bow, with the red and white bands of Smeaton's Tower and the terraces above the Hoe behind her, and the White Ensign flying from her ensign staff aft. The sky is overcast, there is no more than a light chop on the Sound, and a red buoy lies off her stem.
She had sailed at the beginning of the summer of 2016, and the deployment took her two thirds of the way around the world. Her commanding officer, Captain Paul Stroude, called it a challenging and hugely varied one that had tested both his ship and her company, and more than 650 friends and family were waiting for her at Devonport. Another photograph of the same homecoming, by the same photographer, won the Fuji Best Maritime Image award in the 2018 Peregrine Trophy, the Royal Navy's own photographic competition.

This print is ideal for those who served in HMS Portland on the 2016 to 2017 deployment and for the families who were waiting on the jetty for her.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
