HMS Prince of Wales R09 Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier Entering Harbour Photo Print
HMS Prince of Wales (R09), a Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier, shows her starboard side in open coastal water with tugs in attendance, one running in close against her hull below the forward island and another lying off her stern. The pennant number R09 is painted on that forward island below the long range radar, both islands stand out against banks of cumulus, and a small craft passes under her bow flare with a low shoreline running away behind her. No date or photographer is recorded for this image.
Portsmouth had to be made ready before a ship of this size could be based there, with the approach channel and harbour dredged deeper and a jetty rebuilt to take her alongside. The entrance is narrow for a hull of 280 metres, so her arrivals and departures are worked with tugs and timed to the tide. She first entered the harbour in November 2019 and has been based there ever since.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
