HMS Prince of Wales R09 Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier April 2025 Leaving Portsmouth Photo Print
HMS Prince of Wales (R09), a Royal Navy Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier, stands out of Portsmouth Harbour on 22 April 2025 at the start of her eight month mission to the Indo-Pacific. Her ship's company are fallen in along the edge of the flight deck for Procedure Alpha, and a small launch runs in close under her starboard side, which is the side turned to the camera. Cumulus cloud drifts across a blue sky, the Spinnaker Tower and the Portsmouth waterfront stand behind her, and the harbour water is a dull grey green.
In February 2024 she sailed at short notice to lead the British part in Exercise Steadfast Defender, the largest NATO exercise since the Cold War, after a propeller shaft fault kept HMS Queen Elizabeth in port. She took the Fleet Flagship from her sister during a visit to Liverpool in early December 2024 and still held the role on the day she left for the Pacific. Her core ship's company numbers a little under seven hundred, a figure that more than doubles once an air group and its engineers are embarked.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
