HMS Protector A173 Ice Patrol Vessel January 2016 Reflections Photo Print
HMS Protector (A173), a Royal Navy ice patrol vessel, sits among scattered floes on 4 January 2016, photographed at sea level from her own survey motor boat so that her port side fills the width of the frame. The pennant number A173 is painted large amidships and her name further aft, and a single penguin stands on the ice in the foreground. Between the floes the water is still enough to hold the red of her hull as a reflection.
She is as much a survey ship as a patrol vessel. Besides a hull mounted multibeam echo sounder she carries the survey motor boat James Caird IV, the ramped workboat Terra Nova and a number of rigid inflatables, and the soundings her teams gather go to the UK Hydrographic Office and to partner nations. Much of this coast has never been measured to modern standards, so even a routine season adds to the charts.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
