HMS Queenborough G70 Q Class Destroyer 1939 to 1945 Photo Print
HMS Queenborough (G70), a Royal Navy Q Class destroyer, sits in a flat, hazy sea during the Second World War, her port side towards the camera and her bow to the left of the picture. A sweep of dark disruptive camouflage runs along her hull and rises amidships, a ship's boat is stowed abaft the single funnel and an ensign flies from a short mast aft. There is no bow wave and the horizon behind her is lost in haze.
Queenborough was laid down at Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson at Wallsend on the Tyne in November 1940 and launched on 16 January 1942, one of the War Emergency Programme destroyers ordered after the outbreak of war. Her wartime service took her to the Arctic and to the Mediterranean, where she worked in support of the landings in Sicily and Italy, and then east to the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. At the end of the war she went to the Royal Australian Navy on loan in exchange for an N Class destroyer, was handed over to Australia outright in 1950 and was rebuilt there as a fast anti submarine frigate, recommissioning in December 1954 and serving until 1972.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
