HMS Renown 1916 Renown Class Battlecruiser Port Side View Photo Print
HMS Renown, a Renown Class battlecruiser, lies at anchor in a New Zealand harbour, the Union Flag at her jackstaff and a township climbing the hillsides behind her. The camera looks along her port side, giving the long run of her forecastle, the 15 inch turrets forward, the tall tripod foremast with its spotting top and the mainmast aft. Her ship's company are fallen in along the deck edge, the water is smooth and the light soft under low cloud; the photograph is undated.
Renown spent much of the 1920s on royal work. She took the Prince of Wales to Canada in 1919, to Australia and New Zealand the following year and on to India and Japan in 1921 and 1922, and in 1927 she carried the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, out to New Zealand and Australia. Between the two sets of tours she was in dockyard hands for a long refit that ended in 1926 and left her with thicker armour over the belt and decks.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
