HMS Resolution S22 Resolution Class Submarine 1967 Photo Print
HMS Resolution (S22), a Resolution Class submarine, lies alongside at Barrow-in-Furness on 2 October 1967, the day she commissioned into the Royal Navy. The photograph looks down on the whole occasion: ranks of sailors fallen in along the jetty, guests filling a long covered stand behind them, chequered screens rigged at the brows and rows of 1960s cars in the yard beyond. She is berthed starboard side to, her hydroplanes rigged out and brows leading across to her casing.
Vickers Armstrongs laid her down at Barrow in February 1964, and the Queen Mother launched her on 15 September 1966. She was the first British submarine built to carry ballistic missiles, her design taken from the Valiant Class attack boats and lengthened to take the missile system. More than three years of building ended with the ceremony in this photograph, which put her into the hands of her first ship's company.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
