HMS Rother K224 River Class Frigate c1952 Photo Print
HMS Rother (K224), a Royal Navy River Class frigate, seen side on with her starboard side to the camera, the light and dark panels of a disruptive camouflage scheme angled across her hull as she lies on lightly ruffled water under an overcast sky. Sailors gather on her forecastle and bridge, lines of small flags run from her single mast, and depth charges are stowed in rows along her quarterdeck. The camouflage and the K pennant point to her wartime service.
Rother was built by Smith's Dock at South Bank on Tees, laid down on 26 June 1941, launched on 20 November 1941 and commissioned on 3 April 1942, which made her one of the earliest River Class frigates in service. Smith's Dock drew up the class around merchant shipbuilding practice so that yards with no warship experience could build them, and their greater length and twin engines gave them the range and seakeeping for ocean convoy work that the smaller Flower Class corvettes lacked. She served as an escort throughout the war and was broken up in 1955.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
