HMS Saga P257 S Class Submarine 1945 Photo Print
HMS Saga (P257), a Royal Navy S Class submarine, is under way on the surface in choppy grey water, seen on her starboard beam with her pennant number painted large on the conning tower and her deck gun trained forward. A large merchant ship lies beyond her, with a small steamer and a row of tall shipyard cranes on the shore behind. The photograph is dated 8 June 1945, six days before she was commissioned.
Saga was laid down at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead on 5 April 1944, launched on 14 March 1945 and commissioned on 14 June that year. She belonged to the third group of the S Class, the largest class of submarines ever built for the Royal Navy, and was still working up when the war with Japan ended. Sold to Portugal on 11 October 1948, she served on as NRP Nautilo until she was listed for disposal in 1969.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
