HMS Savage G20 S Class Destroyer 1943 Photo Print
HMS Savage (G20), a Royal Navy S Class destroyer, is making way through a choppy sea in 1943, with low, bare land lying along the horizon behind her, viewed from off her port quarter as she heads away to the left. G20 shows clearly on a hull painted in darker and lighter camouflage panels, the paintwork streaked and patchy, with wireless aerials strung from her foremast and her after guns trained aft. The sky is overcast and broken water runs along her side and under her stern.
Savage was launched on 24 September 1942 and was adopted by the town of Burton upon Trent. At the Battle of the North Cape on 26 December 1943 she was one of the destroyers that closed the German battleship Scharnhorst, firing eight torpedoes at a range of about 3,500 yards in the attacks that slowed the enemy ship before she was sunk. Much of the rest of her war was spent with the Arctic convoys to and from north Russia, sailing with JW 55B, JW 56A and JW 57 among others.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
