HMS Scylla F71 Leander Class Frigate July 1986 Photo Print
HMS Scylla (F71), a Royal Navy Leander Class frigate, leaves Portsmouth during a families day in July 1986, seen from high above her port quarter. Guests in summer clothes and sailors in uniform crowd her upper deck from the waist to the flight deck, the White Ensign flies from the staff above her transom, and a small launch runs along off her port bow. The water is calm and hazy, with another vessel far out near the horizon.
Earlier in her career Scylla served twice in the fishery disputes with Iceland. She patrolled during the second Cod War in 1973, when the Icelandic gunboat Aegir collided with her on 1 June, and she was back off Iceland from February 1976 in the third dispute, protecting British trawlers. Days like the one shown here were a rare chance for a ship's company to show wives, parents and children the ship they lived and worked in.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
