HMS Scylla F71 Leander Class Frigate August 1968 Photo Print
HMS Scylla (F71), a Royal Navy Leander Class frigate, stands on the building slip at Devonport Royal Dockyard on her launch day in August 1968, ready to take the water. The photograph looks down from high above her bow, along a bare forecastle with no gun yet fitted, past her bridge, mast and funnel to the river beyond, where small boats wait. Two tall lattice cranes rise beside the slip, crowds fill the ground on either side of her, and people, a number of them sailors, line her decks.
She was laid down at Devonport on 17 May 1967 as one of the broad beamed Leanders, and she was the last frigate built at the Royal Dockyard there. She was also the last of the Leander class built for the Royal Navy, a design that had been in production in British yards since the late 1950s. Some eighteen months of fitting out lay ahead of her after this day.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
