HMS Sentinel P256 S Class Submarine 1945 Photo Print
HMS Sentinel (P256), an S Class submarine, is under way in the Clyde on 11 December 1945, her starboard side to the camera and the hills and waterfront of the firth behind her. Wires run out from her periscope standards to bow and stern, her gun stands on the platform at the fore end of the bridge, and men are up on the bridge as she pushes through a light winter chop.
Sentinel was laid down by Scotts at Greenock in November 1943 and launched on 27 July 1945, too late for any war service. She commissioned on 28 December 1945, seventeen days after this photograph was taken, and spent the following weeks on trials and training off the west coast of Scotland before leaving the Clyde for Portsmouth on 14 February 1946. She took her place in the lines at the Coronation Fleet Review of 1953, and was sold in February 1962 for breaking up at Gillingham.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
