HMS Seraph P219 S Class Submarine Photo Print
HMS Seraph (P219), an S Class submarine, is under way in harbour on her completion in 1942, the view running along her starboard side with 219 painted large on her conning tower. A line of dockyard sheds and a low shoreline stand behind her, a small harbour craft lies close astern, and the free flood holes show as dark rows along her rounded bow casing.
Seraph was built by Vickers Armstrong at Barrow in Furness, launched on 25 October 1941 and commissioned in June 1942. Under Lieutenant Norman Jewell she landed Lieutenant General Mark Clark on the North African coast for secret talks in October 1942, then lifted General Henri Giraud away from southern France while flying American colours for the occasion. In April 1943 she released the body carrying the false papers of Operation Mincemeat off Huelva, the deception that drew German attention away from Sicily. She was rebuilt in 1944 as a fast target for anti submarine training, her gun taken off and her hull streamlined, and she paid off on 25 October 1962, twenty one years to the day after her launch.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
