HMS Sheffield D80 Type 42 Destroyer November 1975 Photo Print
HMS Sheffield (D80), a Royal Navy Type 42 destroyer, alongside at Amsterdam on 14 November 1975, seen from the quay with her bow to the right and her starboard side to the wall, and the Leander Class frigate HMS Apollo (F70) lying outboard of her. Union Flags fly at both ships' jackstaffs and a small boat sits in the water under their bows. Two figures stand on the wet quayside, and harbour cranes line the far bank under a grey, overcast sky.
Her name had been carried before by the Town Class cruiser Sheffield, which served in the hunt for the Bismarck, the Battle of the Barents Sea and the Battle of North Cape before going for scrap in 1967. Firms in the city fitted that cruiser out with stainless steel, which earned her the nickname Shiny Sheff, and the destroyer inherited both the nickname and the same close link with South Yorkshire.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
