HMS Sheffield F96 Type 22 Frigate June 2001 Low Port Bow View Photo Print
HMS Sheffield (F96), a Royal Navy Type 22 frigate, passes Diamond Rock off the south coast of Martinique on 23 June 2001, photographed from low down on the water off her port bow. The rock rises steep and scrubby beyond her stem, a light wind ruffles the dark water in the foreground and warm, low sunlight falls along her port side. A thin wisp of exhaust trails from her funnel.
In January 1804 British sailors under Commodore Samuel Hood landed guns on Diamond Rock and hauled some of them to the summit, and the rock was commissioned as the sloop HMS Diamond Rock to watch the approaches to Fort Royal, now Fort de France. Its small garrison held out until June 1805, when a French and Spanish fleet forced it to surrender. Sheffield fired a ceremonial salute to the old sloop as she went past.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
