HMS Shetland P298 Island Class Patrol Vessel Port Side View Photo Print
HMS Shetland (P298), a Royal Navy Island Class patrol vessel, is under way shortly after leaving HMNB Portsmouth, seen broadside on to her port side beneath a great grey and white cloud bank. A few of her ship's company stand at the bow rail, the White Ensign flies aft, and her name shows on the hull near the stern. The shore behind is low and flat, with a line of trees to the right, and the photograph is undated.
The class came into service just as Britain extended its fishery limits to 200 nautical miles on 1 January 1977, and patrolling that far larger area of sea became their main task. All seven were named after British islands: Jersey, Guernsey, Shetland, Orkney, Lindisfarne, Anglesey and Alderney, the last two ordered in October 1977. Every one of them was built by Hall Russell at Aberdeen.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
