HMS Sovereign S108 Swiftsure Class Submarine 1991 Leaving Faslane Port Bow Photo Print
HMS Sovereign (S108), a Royal Navy Swiftsure Class submarine, is on the surface in open water after leaving Faslane on 28 May 1991, making enough speed for the sea to break white over her bow and pile up along her side. The camera sits low and close off her port bow, looking along the rounded hull to the fin, where her masts are raised and lookouts stand at the top. A warm haze fills the sky and softens the low line of hills on the horizon.
Sovereign was the second of the six Swiftsure Class fleet submarines, laid down by Vickers at Barrow in Furness on 18 September 1970, launched on 17 February 1973 and commissioned on 11 July 1974. Compared with the Valiant Class before them, the Swiftsures were shorter and fuller in the hull, which let them dive deeper and made them quieter. Her home port was Faslane, and in 1998 she spent time at Rosyth for emergency repairs to her tailshaft before returning to the Clyde.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
