HMS St Albans F83 Type 23 Frigate October 2011 Breaking Away Photo Print
HMS St Albans (F83), a Type 23 frigate, turns away from the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) in the Arabian Sea on 24 October 2011, photographed from the carrier's flight deck. A long line of American sailors in coloured deck jerseys stands along the deck edge to watch her go, while the frigate lays a sweeping curve of white wake and a haze of exhaust drifts from her funnel.
Working with American carrier groups was a regular part of her 2011 deployment. Earlier in October she joined the Stennis group to refuel from the US tanker USNS Rainier, waiting her turn while the carrier finished with the oiler, and a helicopter transfer took place between the two ships. This photograph was taken by a US Navy Mass Communication Specialist rather than a Royal Navy photographer.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
