HMS Stalker D91 Attacker Class Escort Carrier 1942 Photo Print
HMS Stalker (D91), an Attacker Class escort carrier, lies on a calm sea off the Californian coast near San Francisco in 1942, shown along her full length from the port side. Her hull carries a bold disruptive camouflage of light and dark sweeping shapes, with a small island and lattice mast rising above the flight deck on her far, starboard side.
She was built by the Western Pipe and Steel Company at San Francisco on a merchant C-3 hull, launched as the American Hamlin on 5 March 1942 and handed to the Royal Navy under Lend-Lease on 21 December 1942. As HMS Stalker she gave air cover to the Salerno landings in September 1943 and to the landings in southern France in August 1944, and in 1945 she served with the 21st Aircraft Carrier Squadron and took part in Operation Tiderace, the reoccupation of Singapore. Returned to the United States on 29 December 1945, she went on to trade as the merchant ship Riouw, later Lobito, and was scrapped in Taiwan in 1975.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
