HMS Striker D12 Attacker Class Escort Carrier 1945 Photo Print
HMS Striker (D12), an Attacker Class escort carrier, steams at a good speed in this aerial view taken around 1945, looking down on her port side and the full length of her flight deck. She is in a bold disruptive camouflage with a large 12 painted on her forward hull, her small island stands on the far side of the deck, and aircraft are ranged at the after end, with a clear wake and bow wave cutting through a dark sea.
Striker was one of the American-built escort carriers lent to Britain, laid down by Western Pipe and Steel in San Francisco and launched on 7 May 1942 as USS Prince William before commissioning into the Royal Navy in May 1943. After convoy work, including the Russian convoy JW 60 in 1944, she sailed for the Pacific, and from March to August 1945 she was flagship of the 30th Aircraft Carrier Squadron in the British Pacific Fleet, supplying replacement aircraft to the fleet carriers during operations off the Sakishima Islands. She was handed back to the United States Navy on 12 February 1946 and later scrapped.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
