HMS Torquay F43 Whitby Class Frigate December 1960 Photo Print
HMS Torquay (F43), a Royal Navy Whitby Class frigate, lies at anchor in December 1960, seen on her starboard side with her bow to the right and the anchor cable running down from the stem. The jack flies at the bow and the ensign at the stern, a few sailors stand on the forecastle, and the water around her is almost flat beneath a pale, hazy sky. Her ship's badge is mounted high on the bow, below the long sheer of the forecastle that marks out the Type 12 hull.
The Whitby Class, or Type 12, was designed as a fast first rate anti-submarine frigate able to keep up with a task force in bad weather. The deep, high forecastle and flared bow seen here were the result, giving the ships a reputation as good sea boats. Their main armament was a twin 4.5 inch gun turret forward, backed by Limbo anti-submarine mortars aft.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
