HMS Torquay F43 Whitby Class Frigate 1958 Photo Print
HMS Torquay (F43), a Royal Navy Whitby Class frigate, runs at speed in 1958, photographed from high above and astern so that the whole length of her upper deck leads away towards the bow. Her pennant number stands out on the transom, the ensign streams from the stern and a broad white wake peels away from both quarters. The overhead angle looks straight down into the mortar well on her quarterdeck, past the ship's boats and funnel to the lattice mast carrying her early radar outfit.
Torquay was built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, laid down on 11 March 1953 and launched on 1 July 1954. She commissioned on 10 May 1956 and joined the 5th Frigate Squadron at Portsmouth, becoming its leader that August. Within months of entering service she took part in the Suez operation of November 1956, then patrolled off Cyprus before returning to Portsmouth in May 1957.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
