HMS Trenchant (S91) Royal Navy Trafalgar Class submarine is captured sailing into Devonport for the final time on the 25th of March 2021, marking the end of her operational career. In keeping with Royal Navy tradition, she proudly flies her paying-off pennant as Serco tugs SD Faithful and SD Adept deliver a water salute over the submarine, creating a powerful and ceremonial moment in recognition of her long and distinguished service.
HMS Trenchant (S91) was a Trafalgar Class nuclear-powered fleet submarine of the Royal Navy, built by Vickers Shipbuilding at Barrow-in-Furness and based at HMNB Devonport. She was the third vessel and the second submarine to carry the name Trenchant, reflecting vigour and incisiveness. Her operational career included deployments across the globe, with Arctic exercises such as ICEX highlighting the advanced capabilities of both the vessel and her crew. Following the Integrated Review of 2020, she left active service in 2021 and was formally decommissioned in May 2022.
