HMS Vanity L38 V Class Destroyer June 1942 Photo Print
HMS Vanity (D28), a Royal Navy V Class destroyer, cuts through the sea at speed on 10 June 1942, photographed from an aircraft above and ahead of her port bow. Her disruptive camouflage shows clearly along the hull, and the shielded twin 4-inch high-angle mounting on her foredeck stands out, with figures on the open bridge, two funnels and a long white wake behind.
Vanity was built by William Beardmore at Dalmuir, launched on 3 May 1918 and commissioned on 21 June 1918, too late to see much of the First World War. From October 1939 to June 1940 she was converted into a WAIR anti-aircraft escort, her original single 4-inch guns and torpedo tubes giving way to twin 4-inch high-angle mountings, and she was accepted back into service on 12 August 1940. She then spent most of the war escorting East Coast convoys with the 15th Destroyer Flotilla from Rosyth, moved to the English Channel in February 1945 and was sold for scrap in March 1947.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
