HMS Walpole I41 W Class Destroyer Photo Print
HMS Walpole (I41), a Royal Navy W Class destroyer, rides on choppy water under heavy cloud in this undated view of her port side, her bow to the left of the frame. She wears wartime disruptive camouflage with dark lines painted along her pale hull, dating the photograph to her Second World War service, and her two funnels and after gun positions are clear against the sky.
Walpole was ordered under the 1916 to 1917 programme and joined the 13th Destroyer Flotilla of the Grand Fleet on completion. When war came again she was assigned to the 11th Destroyer Flotilla in September 1939 and spent most of the conflict escorting convoys, as well as taking part in Operation Amsterdam, the Dieppe raid (Operation Jubilee) and the Normandy landings. On 6 January 1945 she was mined, declared a constructive total loss and broken up at Grays in Essex that March.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
