Royal Navy Merlin Crowsnest Helicopter in Flight 2024 Photo Print
A Merlin fitted with the Crowsnest airborne surveillance system flies close to the camera on 18 October 2024, her port side towards the lens and the large grey radar dome slung on the side of the fuselage. Wisps of white cloud cross a bright blue sky behind her, and her wheels are lowered as she approaches HMS Prince of Wales during Exercise Strike Warrior.
Crowsnest gives the carrier strike group its airborne early warning, spotting aircraft and surface ships well beyond the horizon of a ship's own radars. It is a role kit that can be fitted to a standard Merlin HM2, with the radar dome swung down beneath the helicopter once airborne. The system filled the gap left when the Sea King ASaC7 'baggers' retired in 2018, and it was first taken to sea operationally with the carrier strike group deployment of 2021.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
