Royal Navy Merlin Helicopter Pilot Closeup 2008 Photo Print
A Royal Navy Merlin helicopter belonging to the frigate HMS Westminster, photographed on 12 February 2008 during the Orion 08 deployment. This black and white study is cropped tight to the nose, with the pilot looking out through a spotted windscreen, visor lowered, beside the external mirror, wiper arms and a light fitting on the nose. The rest of the frame is left as plain pale sky.
Westminster was one of the Type 23 frigates fitted to operate a Merlin HM1, and the aircraft and its flight crew became part of the ship's company for the whole deployment. Orion 08 was a task group deployment built around the carrier HMS Illustrious, which sailed from Portsmouth in January 2008; Westminster followed in February for the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean. She returned to Portsmouth on 18 July 2008 after five months of maritime security work and exercises with Spanish, American, Indian and French forces.
This print is ideal for those who flew with or maintained a Type 23 ship's flight and anyone who served in HMS Westminster during Orion 08.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
