RAF 207 Squadron Avro Manchester Mk IA L7486 Air Test 1941 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Avro Manchester Mk IA, L7486 of No. 207 Squadron, flies an air test from Waddington in Lincolnshire in 1941, shortly after being delivered to the squadron. Seen from slightly above on its port side, the bomber shows its dark camouflage, fuselage roundel, twin tail fins and dorsal turret, with flat, patchwork farmland stretching away below and hazy sunlight breaking through at the top right.
The Manchester first flew in July 1939, and No. 207 Squadron was re-formed at Waddington in November 1940 specifically to bring it into service, flying its first operation against Brest in February 1941. Its two Rolls-Royce Vulture engines proved unreliable, and the Mk IA replaced the early central fin with larger twin fins. Only around 200 were built before Avro redesigned the aircraft with four Merlins as the Lancaster. No. 207 Squadron moved to Bottesford in November 1941 and gave up its last Manchesters for Lancasters in March 1942.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
